Mikao Usui, founder of Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes healing and is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". It's "spiritually guided life force energy." Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to promote recovery.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to use or benefit from it.
After spending 2 winters in Thailand studying the ancient arts of Thai Massage, I started to experience feelings and sensations that I could not explain when doing body work. My teacher told me to explore energy healing so I flew to Nepal.
I received my First Degree at the Nepal Reiki Meditation Centre, by the hand of his holiness Lama Ngawang Rigzin, Reiki Grand Master. After receiving this degree and a series of attunements, I withdrew to the mountains and headed to Pokhara.
I met my master there at the beautiful Om Family Ashram.
Swami Dhayan Sagar taught me so much more than just Reiki. He showed me how to look at life differently, how to let go of what no longer served me and how to feel bliss in the mere fact of being. I finished my Reiki education here in Pokhara in this beautiful Ashram, nestled on the banks of the majestic Phewa Lake.
